Jake P. Luffman

Hi, I'm Jake Luffman, a finance major at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with a minor in Informatics, set to graduate in May 2025. I’ve always been passionate about finance and technology, and throughout my academic journey, I’ve maintained a strong GPA of 3.71. I’ve been honored to be part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and had the privilege of winning the EY Case Competition, where my team and I presented strategies that could boost a client’s revenue by $6.8 million. That experience reinforced my drive for solving complex financial challenges.

This past summer, I interned at BGC Cantor Fitzgerald in New York, working in Sales and Trading. I loved the fast-paced environment where I supported trade execution and analyzed market trends using tools like Bloomberg Terminal and Excel. I also started The Coastal Times, an equity research initiative, where I’ve authored over 100 pages of financial reports. Writing these reports has sharpened my analytical skills and helped me dig deep into financial modeling, WACC, and DCF analysis.

Last year, I also worked at Phantom Technologies, combining financial planning with software development. I led data-driven strategies that improved budgeting accuracy by 15%, and I dove into Python programming to help the company’s AI systems perform better. It was exciting to see how technology can enhance financial processes and decision-making.

On campus, I’m involved with the FinTech Association, where I led a project to develop a financial planning app, and in Chi Phi Fraternity as Recruitment Chair, where I’ve helped grow our chapter by over 70%. I’m also part of Indiana University Boxing, which has been a great way to balance my academics with staying active.

In my spare time, you’ll probably find me weightlifting, cycling, or hunting for the best coffee spots. I’m passionate about continuous learning, and I’m excited to keep building my skills in finance and technology as I move forward in my career.

Originally from Westport, Connecticut, I now call Bloomington, Indiana home, and I’m always looking for the next challenge to tackle!
